  1. Who is going to the CT Frag Farmers Market?

Loving that frag rack in a bucket thing! Thats awesome. if you're buying that much coral to frag why not just order from a wholesaler? just wondering.. seems like lfs store prices would really cut your margins down..

Hmm, I know they wouldn't last as long but if they only lasted a month then I would return them. 1w and 3w leds usually boast 50,000 hours (not saying I believe them) even if they only lasted 25,000 hours and you used them 10 hours a day they would last 7 years.. Nice thing about these is that if I find them to be too bright/hot etc. I don't have to replace any wiring, just pop in a different bulb
  3. GU10 LED Build Thread (Chinese Ebay Lights)

Yes, that is definately a concern but with the 24" depth and being 10" off the water surface I think I may have to use 3w bulbs. I may add a few extra fans in there to ensure everything stays cool Does the layout look ok though?
  4. GU10 LED Build Thread (Chinese Ebay Lights)

Heres my plan for the 150g.. using 9w leds. the white squares with the black dot in the middle are 3w leds from tiny's link. the purple bars will be t5s or pcs. I have fans inside my canopy for heat issues (icecap fans.. dont know what size, 5in around?) what do you guys think? (may have to add a few more 3w in the middle-bottom)
  5. GU10 LED Build Thread (Chinese Ebay Lights)

Yeah i agaree about the t5's, that would be ideal.. i'll start looking but I already have a pc retrofit kit on hand. If i'm just buying cheap, chinese t5's, what colors would you reccomend? I know there's some really nice pinks out there but they usually cost a lot

Tiny, I contacted your supplier and they told me the best they could give me was the $4.50 price So I ran a bunch more numbers and contaced handful of other suppliers. Total cost for my project should be $215 for 220w of leds. Sockets, etc. included Going to add two 96w pc's for extra actinic.. already have those on hand so I won't be factoring that into my cost..

Will do, thanks Mcarroll, how many bulbs are you planning on ordering?
  8. GU10 LED Build Thread (Chinese Ebay Lights)

Thanks for the info and the pics Please keep us up to date, its nice having someone with a similar sized project! I'm still trying to find cheaper bulbs.. would like to have this whole fixture done for under $375 I'll keep everyone posted as to how this works out.. On a somewhat related note, whats your opinion on this for my refugium? http://www.ebay.com/itm/220953396822?ssPag...984.m1423.l2649
  9. GU10 LED Build Thread (Chinese Ebay Lights)

Ok, thanks. just wondering, why avoid the 12v?
  10. GU10 LED Build Thread (Chinese Ebay Lights)

Could you take a picture of your test? Would help a lot Currently I'm running 14k halides so I think I may do as you said and start with all whites.. Here's the cheaper leds.. do they look ok? http://www.ebay.com/itm/260956550610?ssPag...984.m1423.l2649

I can't seem to find anyone that sells the blue leds in larger quanities (5 or 10). I was able to find the whites in quanities of 10 for around $2.80 ea and was hoping I'd find the same on the blues.. Should I go with a 60/40 w/b then to save on costs? edit: after reading the above post, should I switch to 70/30 and switch to some of the blues with the 20 tiny bulbs rather than the 3 x 1w?
  12. GU10 LED Build Thread (Chinese Ebay Lights)

I think i'm following you The tank has a 10ft^2 foot print. 5ft by 2ft by 2ft. So you would reccomend 3 rows of 28 bulbs?
  13. GU10 LED Build Thread (Chinese Ebay Lights)

Thanks Do you think 300w of led is enough to grow sps/everything else?
  14. GU10 LED Build Thread (Chinese Ebay Lights)

Hey tinygiant, I just got a 150g tank and its 2ft deep. Is that too deep for these leds? Also, did a little searching on ebay and came across some 6w gu10's. Are they worth it?
