Where to Get Shipping Heat Packs?

    Would they last 72 hours?
  4. I sold a plant on eBay that needs to be shipped to the East Coast and I said I'd include heat packs, assuming I could just go to the USPS store and pick some up. So apparently they don't have these anywhere in stores! Where can I get these? Are they only online? The weather to where the plant is being shipped is going to be like in the 20s/30s. Would the box stay like 50F if I insulate it really well? I can't come up with a solution and I assume many people ship with heating packs regularly on here. Any help?

    Yoshii's 3 Gallon Pico Reef

Why not use the same money to improve your current tanks? Looking back at my experience in the hobby, I wish I would have focused on one main tank rather than 3 small-medium ones. Just too much work to take care of so many every day. If you had one filled with lots of nice colorful corals and cool fish, that would be best IMO.

Yes I am, and I haven't decided yet. I applied to two early action and was admitted to both, one of them was my first choice and one of them was my worst case scenario backup... However the backup offered me a TON of money for merit scholarship, so I'd only really be paying for 3 years of tuition. It's very likely I'll end up going there unless I get better financial aid elsewhere. It's not a bad school, but my SAT score is 300 points higher than their admitted average and my overall GPA is about .5 higher than the average admitted. My SAT and GPA aren't really even that fantastic. I do want to study abroad but I'll have to figure it all out. I want a major that will allow me to have a job anywhere in the world. I'm thinking about either International Business or Nursing. I feel like life would bring me a lot more happiness and joy by living in many different countries to learn their languages and ways of life, rather than staying in the USA and trying to get a 6 figure salary from stressful work. So depending on my major I may or may not study abroad, because I don't think nursing students can study abroad, but International Business students must study abroad. I'd find nursing way more fun than sitting at a computer doing numbers all day, so it's a trade off I guess. But when I figure out where I'm going I'll definitely post it on Facebook. XD

I have three but they're freshwater and hella ugly. It's just guppies. I have a 10 gallon full of a ton of glass-bellied guppies, a 5 gallon with some albino red lace snakeskin guppies, and in my 29 gallon I have tiger endlers. Gotta get rid of them all eventually because college... I'm way too busy for tanks and I tend to kill everything living that had a brain. I can keep plants alive somehow. I come on here sometimes when I'm bored but I'm always on Facebook lol. This hobby is way too expensive for me, I'm trying to save up my money and maybe get a job so I can spend a few summers in German/Netherlands/Sweden.

    Drop off Vivarium-Frogs!

Is this self-sustaining with springtails & other bugs for the frogs or do you have to feed them still?

Haven't Sent eBay Sale For 2 Weeks! HELP.

Ok thanks, I might offer them quadruple portions too so that they don't get mad... I feel horrible ugh.
  11. I had a bunch of plant seeds listed on eBay. I sold to 30 different people over the course of a couple months. I thought I had sold them all but apparently one was still listed on eBay. On the 17th I went on vacation. I got a message on my phone that someone had paid to me on Paypal and I was confused, but then I saw the person had bought seeds. I didn't send them a message because it would be a short vacation and I could send them out the morning I got back. On vacation I got the flu, and was at the point of not even having the energy to turn on the laptop. Couldn't even walk most of those days, and I still get dizzy if I'm up for more than a few minutes. Today is the first day I've actually been feeling better. I never marked the item as "shipped" and now I don't know how I should handle it. Should I send them a message explaining, and mark it shipped when it is shipped? With that I risk them getting mad at me and I don't have a single bad feedback yet. It's just $10 purchase and it's not like the seeds would die or anything. Ideas on what to do? This is the first time I've actually missed shipping within the 3 day period of purchase and I feel really bad. But if you're 3000 miles away and then you come back and die from the flu it's kinda impossible.

    How to Cull A Fish?

    How to Cull A Fish?

True. Sure! As soon as I saw pictures of these guys I was like "dayum I must has them"... AGTF originally bred these I think. It was explained to me as these ones don't have they silvery lining around their stomachs, which makes them "see-thru"... I can see their intestines clearly, and I can see the eyes of their babies very clearly. These are the most similar to mine, but my males have round tails. The bottom pic you can see the eggs inside the females. Also you may notice that one of the females has a huge tail -- I have maybe 3 or 4 females like that with very long pectoral fins too, I think they're referred to as swallow tails. The males of this strain are not see-thru, however. Here's the actual fish in my tank (notice the swallow tail female in the top center)... None of the female in this pic are pregnant so I guess you can't really tell that they're see-thru, but I have maybe 2 or 3 in the tank that are pregnant and about to drop. I have a lot of fry in the tank too that were either born in the mail or last night. I used peat moss for the substrate because this was gonna be for nothobranchius (substrate-spawning killifish) but then I decided guppies were better as always. <3

Here's my thought on that though... You introduce it to freezing water, it goes into shock an dies. That's a hard death for the fish, and what if it keeps squirming for a bit before it can't move anymore? If you put it in a bag in the freezer and let it slowly freeze, it just gets colder and colder gradually until the fish loses consciousness and then freezes solid. Cold isn't that painful, but at least it would be slow and wouldn't shock the fishy.

    How to Cull A Fish?

This is fish related and applies to marine tanks too, and since NR is an active forum I'm posting it here. I got about 40 see-thru guppies today (genetically like that, not lab-made -- you can see the babies in the mum's stomach) and put them in my 2-month cycled tank. They're all doing great. However, in shipping, it seems as though one of them (a young male) was bent somehow, maybe getting caught in the corner of the bag. His body is curved and he swims vertically now. Is there a way to humanely cull the guy without going extreme and cutting his head off? I know that's the best way people have agreed upon for humaneness, but I just can't stomach that. What are humane culling options that don't involve me mutilating the fish? (I'd never cull a fish, but this guy is probably going to die either way because the others will probably get all the food, he struggles to swim around)...
