Sounds good man thanx for the help. I will b starting it tomorrow so I hope it goes well I am transferring some of the oxld sand, as much water as I can and all the old rock. I am adding new rock n sand as well so hopefully my livestock reacts well but if not its not a huge loss a few small frags n 2 fish which I like but combined don't equal to $20 lol
  6. Upgrade time!

So I am currently using a 10 gallon for my aquarium but want to upgrade it to a 20 gallon tall. I currently have 2 small fish, 1 mushroom, n 2 green star polyps that r growing well on 2 pieces of live rock. How do I transfer this 2 a new aquarium n add more sand n rock without it recycling n killing everything!?! I have read recent posts regarding this issue but it didn't seem to help. N e ideas would b great, I just want to add 10lbs more rock n sand
  7. OUTBREAK!

Ok I did a huge water change (50% plus) n scraped till my fingers hurt lol n was able to get most of the algae off but still needs more work. As for the algae thanx for the tips I want to try Joes juice thanx guys!
  8. OUTBREAK!

So here's the truth I got a lil lazy and stopped maintenance on my tank and trust me I regret it bad! My whole aquarium is caked with green algae which is hard to scrape off, even with a razor blade or a pad. Also I have a massive breakout with aiptasia anemone's!! They are everywhere!!! In the sand, on the glass, all over my rocks! Counted over 20 so far! They have gotten out of control and I want my tank back so please someone help me clean this mess up, where to start?? I have syringes too with metal tips so I can pump these anemones up with something to kill them but what? Any advice is helpful, thanks!
  9. my clownfish hosting.....my sand?!?

    That's what I want!
  10. my clownfish hosting.....my sand?!?

No no nem for me I only have a small 10 gallon so no plans on nems but maybe a torch or green star for him to try to host or something. Like u guys said maybe he will move when comfortable
  11. So I bought a new clownfish a few days ago a true perc but as soon as I put him in he just stayed at the bottom of the tank on the left side swimming. He will occasionally swim up n around but returns right away to the same spot where he keeps rubbing in the sand n is making sand go everywhere n now there is a huge whole in the sand almost to the glass n he just chills there. Now I have no coral yet n I kno its only been a few days bit is it possible for him to host the sand? I've heard stories of clowns hosting powerheads n mag floats but never just sand I hope once coral is introduced he moves n e ideas?

  13. I am not too new to reefing but out of practice, I successfully kept a Red Sea Max a few years back but took it down n sold it due to moving. I am trying to start up a 10 gallon reef tank, I want to keep it simple 1 small fish, CUC, and simple corals probably zoas n mushrooms maybe xenia or torch nothin fancy. I am not trying to break my pockets n I kno this is n expensive hobby but trying to save doesn't hurt. I'm looking into a lighting fixture that would do the job at less cost. I want to know if this would do the trick http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/prod...fm?pcatid=21973 I like how it looked at a LFS I wanted to know if I could maintain the basics with it. N e help would b greatly appreciative o n one more thing, should I use a skimmer? N e advice please n.thank u
