  6. Yes, please buy another one and see for yourself. Get another kh/alk salifert test kit and compare. Anyway I am done with this post. good luck to you all and especially you. Hope you find another kit that give you the parameter you wanted. thanks Tom
  7. I don't know why. but are you aware that now a day most ocean salt mix, content additive like calcium, trace elements, buffer, strontium, magnisum, iodine...and more. if you look on the outside bag, it stated some thing like calcium added... I woulnt be suprised if the calcium is around 400-450 (same or almost same with your main tank, is this mean the calicum test kit faulty too? ) and hk/alk around 8-12, ph around 7.8-8.2.... I am glad that your new salt water mix is the same as you main tank. This is good because you can do water change with you stressing out your livestock. Many people have to wait or set their new mix water until they reach the same or close to the main tank water. thanks Tom
  8. You need to clam down a little bit, I dont want to get into an argument with you. here: I bought two yellow tangs from the wholesaler, two tangs were in the same holding tank. I put one in my main tank, and one I my sump the same way. The one in my main tank develop ick and die within two weeks....the one in my sump is still alive and happy. Both are in the same tank water, just different place. Two bottles of wine, same company, same favor, same bottles design, same manufactor date....but one tast better than the other...WHY?? ......there are something that cant and couldnt be explain. Like I stated in my first post. I don't know why but I know for sure that your test kit was not made in 1997 just because it printed on the booklet 1997. IF ALL THE CUSTOMERS DIDN'T GET THE RESULT THEY LIKE OR TOO HIGH OR TOO LOW OR THE SAME, AND JUMP TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THE TEST KIT IS FAULTY. I think the test kits manufactor would be out of business. Salifert is the best out there...I already gave you the information on how to contact them and ask they why??? please do so. Go to www.reefcentral.com there is a sponor page that run by salifert company....they can help you explain why, how, and what....and why again...!!! I stand behind my product, it's current new, not made in 1997. I bought it as soon as it came in (2-3 months ago ), I sold it to you. The box lable expire in 8-28-2008 per manufactor. Sorry I can explain why, because for the past 13 years, I have many questions like WHY????...but I still dont have any answer. I used many test kits, I got different result and salifert is the most accurate out there.
  9. "I know that the Salifert chemicals have changed as stated in the Calcium test I have dated 2004 that "the old regeant will not work with this test." The ALK test is dated like 1997 which I think is suspect. I'll ask for a new one & keep you posted. " To my understanding salifert ONLY offer refill kit for calcium test kit. Meaning if some of you regeant is out, you can purchase a refill kit instead of buying new test kit. But for not for hk/alk so if you use all of it, you have to purchase new kit new regeant or solution..... Thanks
  10. regarding to your case....I just contacted the wholesaler based on los angeles and told them at one of my customer claim the test was made in 1997. The owner of All Sea Marine laughed at me and stated his salifert kits never last two weeks old...people are line up just for it to arrive....phone number is 310-532-7769 if you have any question. I bought all my test kit from him and I even have the receipt to proof that it was recently bought....I even have 100+ booklet that printed the same as the one you have @ salifert 1997.....and some are in 1994. thanks, hope you have better luck getting the right result and help from experts on nano reefs. Thanks
  11. Like I stated each tank is different. I don't know how in the world you get 22 when the instruction only top at 16. I am not explain to you that 1997 printed on the instruction booklet doesn't mean it was made in 1997. On the outside of your kh/alk it's clearly stated it will be expire on 08-28-2008 or comething close to that date, right? I also asking people on this forum to check their kit to see if they have to same printed on their booklet. Regarding to why you have 22...i don't know but look at the post, I don't think you even know what you're doing. Please don't be offended....I also don't know what i am doing at first, but after couple water change, stop adding any chemical to my water ( just have calcium reactor running)....I finally got my calcium to be at around 450 and kh/alk at around 12......too date late I test it again and my is drop to around 400 and hk/alk raise to 15......and so on. Couples date later it when back to 430 and 13....all my corals are heathy and growing. Regarding to your case....I dont know but in this hobby patience and timing are extremly required. thanks
  12. The date that printed on the intruction booklet comes with your salifert test kit doesnt mean your product (the test itself) was made in 1997. "@ salifert 1997" mean the book was printed in 1997 as a whole. The test kit itself is current and the expiration date is printed on the outside of the book. All reef water parameters are different from one to another, temperature, night and day, sality....and so on. There is no test kit out there that claim to be 100% accurate not even the electronic...give and take. For people on this forum please check to see if I am right?...some of you even have some thing like @salifert 1994....1990...and so on... thanks
