  1. Sapphire Skimmer

I just got the Sapphire skimmer for my NC24. The instructions say it goes into chamber 1 but it doesn't fit. Should it go into the middloe chamber instead? It seems to fit there. Help is appreciated. Eric
  2. Aquarium Software

ReefConFound this from another guy that was using it here. Works well for me.EricStevie beat me to it.
  3. SPS water quality

I'm new to SPS as well. I added a pink birds nest a few weeks ago. It seems to be doing great. I'm going to add a skimmer a little later though.
  4. New 24 Gallon NC hood

I live in St Louis. Bought it at a place called Planet Reef locally. I can get you their phone number if you'd be interested in giving them a call. Eric
  5. New 24 Gallon NC hood

I upgraded my 24 NC with the JBJ 150W MH hood. Very nice, clean look. Bought it at my LFS for about $100 less than I could find it on line. Where are you in Illinois?
  6. Alternate Coral/Host for Clownfish

Hammer or torch coral may be an alternative.
  7. are nano cubes any good?

They have a 28 gallon now with a standard 150 watt MH and wavemaker built in. I got mine a couple of years ago and with I had the 28 instead. (biggers always better, right?) Anyway, I'm very happy with it. Just my 2 cents. Eric
  8. Red algae

I think I found my issue. I have an area of low flow and need to add a powerhead to increase it there. However, I noticed small bubbles forming on the surface of the sandbed. Should I be concerned?
  9. will sps survive in my tank ?

I agree. Clowns are nice. And not enough light for SPS.
  10. Red algae

Shouldn't be much of a problem. Relatively new tank and only one fish (Firefish).
  11. Kgarner085's 28g JBJ HQI Thread

    Nice rockwork. Looks great.
  12. Red algae

Just noticed some red algae starting to grow on my LR. Not very much yet at all but I wanna nip it before it gets out of control. What's the best method? All parameters in the tank seem to be fine. 0 ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Lighting about 8 hours a day with 150W MH. Should I decrease the lighting time? Any assistance is appreciated. Eric
  13. Schmimble!

Just like a thimble, only different?
  14. Steve, I did this upgrade a few days ago. I had a bit of an issue because I have the old style cube and had to dremel off the old molded hinges and replace them with new ones that would work with the hood. Since it's only been a couple of days since I did it, I haven't had much time to really evaluate yet but so far so good. My temps only go up a couple of degree F during the lighting time (9 hours or so). But the weather's cooling down. I may have to add a chiller at some point in the future. Personally, I think it's worth the money. I got mine form a LFS here in St Louis. A lot cheaper than I could find it anywhere else.
  15. Has anyone upgraded their NC to the HQI Canopy

I added the new hood just yesterday. I have an older Nanocube so I had to dremel off the old molded plastic canopy hinges and get new hinges. That was the worst part. As far as temps go, since it's only been a day, I haven't fully tested yet. The temps only went up 2 degree F in the nine hours that the light was on. So far, so good. I really like it. Eric
