  2. The problem is that because he was in hiding, probably in the back chambers, he didn't get much light so coloring is off. I feel like his head is more the shape of the sharknose, but more the coloring of a neon. Anyway, I guess it doesn't really matter.

Heater to fit Nuvo 10 cube

It should be the same size as my peninsula 14 and I have a neotherm and a IM reactor in the middle chamber of mine

    125 gallon lighting options??

Heater to fit Nuvo 10 cube

I’ve been buying my equipment the past few weeks, but I’m stuck on a heater. It seems that some of the better rated ones are just too long/tall. I was considering the Cobalt, but it’s so wide, will it fit? Which compartment do you stick your heater in anyway? 😂 TIA!!!

Please help me stop killing corals

Update: phos test shows 0 ppm. Not really surprising at this point, but I have removed the phos-zorb and can monitor now. when feeding corals yesterday noticed no fewer than 8 bristle worms coming out of the live rock. I know some folks maintain that they are part of the natural process and good for cleaning sand, but since I have read that some species can eat corals I’m going to trap and remove what I can. I have increased feedings to once a day, and have ordered the LRS nano frozen food. Thanks!

    125 gallon lighting options??

So that's going to be really hard to do for 500 bucks . Your tank is 6 feet long!!!! Hahaha.. your best bet is to look into the Chinese black box LEDs or search for a used t5 set up.. Maybe this with the option of adding LEDs as you get a larger budget?? https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/60-hybrid-t5ho-4x80w-fixture-with-led-mounting-system-aquatic-life.html

    Hydnophora vs. Montipora

Hydnophora is a very aggressive coral. I regret buying mine because I have to keep it in the sand to keep it from murdering everyone. I would take it out and chisel...... just in case in breaks in the worst kind of way.
  17. Yeah, The RFA is fine, just not spectacular. The one in my 29 seems so much more vibrant. Maybe it's just the color combo of this one. This tank did have quite a lot of flow cuz that's what I thought the gorgs need, but I just took the Koralia nano out to see if anything likes that better.

WV Reefer's 75 Gallon Big and Dirty

I couldn’t sleep at night knowing there was a crazy mess under there...... messiness stresses me out. That canopy is very cool. I would be down for that if I had the perfect wall.

    Hydnophora vs. Montipora

Does anyone have experience with hydnophora becoming aggressive with other corals? I’m a novice reef keeper, and I’m just now starting to second guess some placement after reading things and seeing some serious growth. I have a hydnophora exesa encrusted on the same rock with a sunset monti. Corals are about 3 inches away from each other, and im seeing very good growth between the two weekly. I really don’t want to pull off my monti because I love it so much, and I mounted the plug vertically and it’s growing like a Xmas tree, don’t want to disturb it. I’m thinking about breaking the rock in half with a hammer and chisel. What are your opinions on doing this in or out of water with the corals still attached to the rock. Makes me nervous. Thank you in advance, pics are below.

The storage under my tanks are a hot mess, I really need to clean it up when I move. I always loved floating canopys and would love to have something like this someday....
  21. IDK, I've never had issues with RFAs (I believe that I've just kept the Caribbean variety). They must like my low flow dirty tanks.

    125 gallon lighting options??

Oh boy this is about to be incriminating haha I would like to keep it about 500, but less I have to spend the better.

    125 gallon lighting options??

I guess the first question is what's the budget 🤣

Maybe bryopsis (possibly Bryopsis pennata), not sure.

WV Reefer's 75 Gallon Big and Dirty

Up skirt pic: nice and neat. 😊 I have the pest tank running under there with pods from the minicomplete tank. Debating on shutting it down now that Rico died in the 12 gallon...... not as much need for pods.
  26. Hey all! So I have a lead on a 125 gallon tank setup and pending the outcome of that situation I'm going to need some new lighting. If my eyes haven't deceived me with surrounding objects for size reference I'd say the tank is 72"x18"x24" (LWH) I like the idea of A360s or an AP700 (maybe even a bunch of a80s??) or some prime HDs, but also interested in a t5 hybrid fixture. Do you all have any suggestions? I'm keeping softies and LPS currently. Of course the idea is to attempt to find everything second hand if possible to mitigate the financial impact. Thanks!

    • Preventing Freezer Burned Reef Foods
I feed a few different frozen foods and it takes a while to go through them, even with my heavy feedings. I keep everything sealed up and try to get all of the air out of the bags for the flat packed stuff, but I am still seeing quite a bit of freezer burn, even with the blister pack cubed foods. I think a lot of it has to do with the defrost cycle and the constant thaw/freeze cycles. The food seemed to last longer when I had a bunch of bottles of water in the freezer to minimize cycling.

What does everybody do to minimize freezer burn with their frozen foods?
