if I was you, I'd remove that plastic cap on top of your tank... It'll do a greenhouse effect which isn't necessarily a good thing except if you really want your tank at boiling levels ;)

the cap actually serves a number of purposes.

 

it's keeping the water from evaporating at too fast of a pace or splashing out. it's transparent so it lets in light for the future residents. its shape basically eliminates salt creep as it's self-cleaning (via condensation).

 

so far, temp hasn't been an issue other than too low. i am expecting high issues in the warmer months as usual with all my tanks. that's probably the #1 concern long-range.

 

i'm fairly confident the system will sustain what i want (i've done smaller ones, also ugf too) but not 100% sunlight though. so it's really a test for that and corresponding coral growth (hopefully). thanks for the comments though!
