Ok, I have moved this LR around about 5 times now. I think this is how it's going to stay. Any opinions from exp. reefers? Info: It's 12g. tall. Haven't recieved my PC lights yet so no life in there. Should be cycled but will test tomm.,when I pick up my retro lights, to make sure. Used about 30lb Lsand and 30lb LR. Have a mini 90 pump on the left pointing kind of up (any other suggestions) and run the eclipse system. Currently using the charcoal cuz i have kicked up some sand but will take that out. If you see the syringe, it's not for me..I am using it to kill the aptasia.:) Any guidance welcome.. this is my first time

Good start. I would move that rock on top in the middle. It looks a little unstable. Go for a digital thermometer (coralife). They are about $6-$8.

I have not heard many good things about the eclipse system though. What kind of heater are you using and how many watts?

Thanks, I will check out the digital thermometers (I have a little money left..haha). The heater is a 75W Marineland and so far has done a good job of maintaining 79F. I do have a backup that I will use to heat my water for top offs and changes. I haven't heard many good things about the eclipse system either (it worked well for tropical fish). Pretty much the only thing it is used for in this system is to circulate water. I will only use the filter if it gets real cloudy. I am hoping that cleaners, scraping and water changes are enough though. Thank you for the input!

THe system will work fine but patience, patience, patience! I have a 16 gallon bow front with Marineland filter and CPR skimmer. I do weekly 3 gallon water changes, add minimal suppliments. All I can keep in it are two small fish. I suggest running the Eclipse filter as a water mover. Go slow, very slow. I've been a reefer for 20 years...it is the hardest and most expensive lesson to learn.

Only suggestion would be to move the rock away from the glass. It will be a major pain to clean between the rock and glass when your tank matures... :| Good start, though!

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I would also like to get opinions on my lighting. I haven't bought the 32W PC retrofit light for my eclipse hood yet. I feel like it will not be enough light to keep coral (especially since it's a deeper tank). Would I be better off taking off the eclipse hood, getting another small pump for circulation, maybe a hob filter and getting a more powerful light to hang over the top and leave the top open? Will the fish, etc. jump out? Just some thoughts..thank you.
