5gal w/Regal Tang

MAQUARIUM

This is my 5gal nano-reef. There I have a feather duster, one anemone, one three stripes damsel, one clown fish and one 6 month old nano reef grown regal tang (1 ½ in). I have waited 6 month to put this post and the regal tang hasn’t grown any more. So if you are one that says that you can’t put a regal tang in a nano reef, you're wrong...

SIX (6) MONTH OLD!!!!! AND NO DEAD, THAT'S A PERFECT NANO REEF, GOOD QUALITY WATER CONDITIONS, GOOD MAINTAINANCE, DO YOU UNDERSTAND? IF YOU TRY IT AND YOUR FISHES DIES, YOU ARE NOT FOR THIS... AND IF YOU HAVEN'T TRY IT AND YOU ARE TALKING BS, YOU ARE THE IGNORANT.

P.D. SEARCH BETTER PLEASE!!!

Ok so you can keep a tang is a 5gal tang and have it live. That is the same as raising a child in a closet. Yes, I am sure that they could live out of one, but think how much happier they could be if they we able to run around in a bigger run aka bigger tank. Its not that it cannt be done, but for the physical and mental health of the fish, give it the proper conditions, plz. The other 2 fish would be fine in a 5 gal, but just rethink your tang in there as it will grow weather you want it to or not and if it doesn't have room to grown then it will die in time.

Seriously, this is a bad idea. That tang is going to start swimming in patterns and freaking out soon.

MAQUARIUM,

Lol! One way to not look ignorant is to not scream at the other people here who have far more knowledge then yourself and who are trying to save you some trouble, not to mention the poor fish your mistreating and do the right thing which would be to give it to someone who has room.

Also it couldnt hurt to use correct english when your trying not to look ignorant. What is P.D.?

-Peace

Okay 10" Red Devil, I'll put Maquarium aside for a second as I agree with you (and everyone else) that he's doing a bad thing with that tang. But come on, don't snap at him for not using "correct english." Off the top of my head I notice two mistakes:

1) it's THAN not then

2) it's you're not your

Also, seriously, yelling at the guy isn't going to do anything.

MAQUARIUM show us this tank in another six months (it clearly has not been up and running for six months like you say: no coralline algae, no algae at all) i would be very surprised if the anemone were still alive, actually i would be surprised if anything in that picture is still alive.

Carolina, P.R.? Puerto Rico? I'm gonna guess he doesn't know english very well...but in any language on any continent that is a mistake. And I get all kinds of crap for putting a yellow tang in my 55g. This poor guy is going to get strung up. Good luck bud, may God have mercy on you, because the reef community will not.

If your a good person, you'llgive that tang a good home, sell him, FYI,They swim 6 miles a day in the wild, how far can it get in a NANO , geesh, you give the hobby a bad view, reminds me of when Finding Nemo came out, people believing they could put fish in a fresh water tank

Well, I thought I would add my 2 euros! As I agree with all about keeping a tang in this small of a tank, I think people should try and, cut this guy some slack, maybe if all would lend some ideas and, not thrash him, he might do the right thing and, learn some more about the hobby. after all, is this not a place we should all be sharing and, learning more, about the thing we love?

Just, MHO!!!!!!!

Whoa there you reef maniacs. You should consider that even a clown in a 90 gallon tank has an extremely small area to swim compared to it's natural environment. Let's face it reef keeping isn't nice to the fish or their natural environment at all! We're already stressing reefs with improper capture methods (cyanide method is awful) and taking species out of the water at an obviously crazy rate. Tank bred fish are a novelty and so are aqua cultured corals. So even though the tang is uncomfortable in that lil' five gallon, it would still be uncomfortable in a 90 gallon. What we do is for our pleasure and not the fishes. The only reason we keep our tanks in excellent condition is so that our $120 naso tang doesn't become shark bait so we can enjoy their beauty longer. Even in the best tank fish and corals won't live as long as they would in the wild. So let's face it...reef keeping is cruel, but as long as we enjoy it...who cares?

damm that tang going to grow to the size of that tank, bad choice on selecting one for a five gallon, the tang would be more siuted to a 45 gallon tank like mine, chech fish only

Just let the dude alone, if he wants to keep a tang in their let him. He will just have to suffer the consequences of having a fish that gows a foot long in their die, let alone the rest of the creatures. I would only keep the clown in there. Why do so many people keep anemones in small tanks, if it dies, you're tank is pretty much done for.
