free fan on my LR

I was so excited to find it sitting on the LR when I bought it. There are a few smaller fans on the rock but not as big or as intact as this one. It's the size of a nickel. I'm still a noob reefer and was wondering if anyone could tell me what I need to keep it up.

I don't believe that's a fan, I have one of those, it's some hard coral I believe. If it is a fan, good luck! I dont' see any polyps... mine wasn't photosynthetic. i wouldn't cut it out, it's too small and you'd prob damage it. my $0.02 worth anway. =)

have you seen any polyps extending from that thing? what kind of rock did you find that on? and if it is a fan you would feed it phytoplankton

i got the rock from my LFS. our fish guy said it was one of the 'fresher' rocks. Have seen no polyps extend from it yet, I don't wanna chance cutting it but I don't know how much it'll grow. you can see it in this other post of my rock http://www.nano-reef.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=10217&password=&sort=1&cat=2&page=1'>

if it is a sps then i need a metal halide or some stronger light than the stock that i have in there. Thinking of a 175w mh
