Put in an extra 32w SmartLite retrofit, I really had to squeeze it in there. The blue dots are two spotlights set on timers to be moonlight. The fan keeps things *perfectly cooled* and is also slaved to the day night cycle to reduce evaporation. I was worried about a fire hazard what with the electronic ballast right there, but the fan does a dynamite job at keeping the whole aquarium at an even temperature, even the lights.

yeah i worry. so far the fan is doing a bang up job of cooling the tank. it's barely warm in there.

I love the setup! :) It kind of looks like what I want to do with my hood! What kind of fan is that? Also, did the bulb come witht the retrofit?

Take the Balast(s) right out. I have the same tank and I just extended the wires off my balasts to the bulbs and have them mounted outside the tank. Cut down on the heat ALOT!

Hi, I have made an upgrade to my 2 mth old nano, upgraded the in built 18w pc running off a 1x 18w ballast to a 2x 24 off ballast. Gets hot have space for fans as taken off fan position caps to allow vent, how have you installed your fans, do you run them through the ballast. I ask because i have no room/spaces off the ballast for connection? Your advice would be apre, which goes out to anyone listening??
