Dennis2Society Posted March 11, 2004 Beautiful Tank!, what is your set up & secret? ~0c0~ Quote Link to comment
Cyber Posted March 12, 2004 All I can say, knowledge + patient + time + money = good reef. Hehe. The setup is just a 18gal via aqua with prizm skimmer and HOB millennium 2000 filter. Cyber Quote Link to comment
Dennis2Society Posted March 13, 2004 Right on Cyber! I just started with mine, it has been 4 years since I had a tank, because of the constant moving. Sounds like confession! Lol!! The equipment I have is 12g.hex, cpr bakpak, jabo jager heater, compact flours, 5lbs. of #3 aragonite, 8-10lbs. of cured live rock. If you had to start all over again, what would you do different, as far as technique or equipment, or advice. I appreciate your cooperation and input! Dennis S. By the way, check out your site and you are into some cool things! ~0c0~ Quote Link to comment
Cyber Posted March 13, 2004 Hi ya Dennis, I glad that you got back to reefing again. For input, here is what I think about your setup: First, I think a small hex tank is kinda hard to have more option on filtration. CPR is kinda over kill the little tank. I would ditch the CPR bakpak and get something nicer like the Prizm with surface skimming device. Ok, if I start over again, I will make sure my rocks are clean. I mean no sponges, algae, aptasia...since nano reef is too small, these stuff can be a great threat. I will first dip the rock in fresh water for a day or so to kill off ANYTHING on it (Dont worry, there should be plenty of bacteria left on it). I will mix 1/2 of the new water with water from an established tank (from friend or local fish store). That will speed up the cycle. Equipment should be all the same. A Prizm delux series with surface skimming device and a HOB for carbon or Phosban. A titanium heater is nice for nano so I dont have to worry about turning off the heater when I change the water. That's about it. Good luck with your nano. Cyber Quote Link to comment
findingnemo13 Posted June 27, 2004 I have the exact same tank. What kind of lighting did you use? Quote Link to comment
