Right now a Current LED set up from my fresh water tank and for the pic, a 16watt LED work light...all temporary until I get another one very soon. My Real Reef 2.1 rock will be here shortly and I'll be able to start slowly adding some softies and LPS's.

I am still on the fence about what light to use, so many to choose from...I understand all the variables, wattage, par, spectrum, size tank, depth, flow, what critters one wants to house etc...and budget!!...any good ideas TFish77??

It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. For most tanks your size that super lux or an equivalent LED would be sufficient. The best advice I can give though is keep it simple and upgrade more and more down the road. My first light was a 20w LED desk lamp :-p.

Some other potential LED brands I would look into down the road would be Mars Aqua, Aqua Illumination, Kessil, or Ecotech. Each offer different sizes and values at different price points to suit different tank needs. Best of luck! 

This was my light on my last reef....all Ecoxotic LEDs and in the last 6 years

the technology has evolved a lot!

...hahaha, my FIRST light, in the 70's was fluorescents...NASA had barely invented LEDs (to grow food in space) and were not available to consumers in any form. I think I will pull the trigger on that super lux, many great reviews...

My new light came in, I am super happy with this 144watt....$59 and free shipping, took two days.

Colorfully cute clown calmly catching cascading copepods.....

I picked up this clown, a small xenia frag (already growing) and a huge piece of coraline algae blanketed with GSP, ripped it in thirds and laid them on the substrate here and there.

Found a very cool LFS, the closest one 45 minutes away, with some great corals and prices, MVP in Portage near Kalamazoo....and just gonna take it slow, the temptation was hard though...hehehe....

a mushroom, thinks it's a green metallic but as I shot these, he was seeking inner beauty as it were,

I'll get a better shot of it later...

and the GSP on the back wall are growing very quickly...

...and I bought another percula with a great story. 2 1/2 weeks ago I bought the first one and ever since I put it in, I was sad

that I didn't buy the other clown that was in the tank with it. I went back a couple of days ago and the clown was still there and they

are getting along great!

....slow and steady....will wait another month or so before adding anything else. Parameters are great, copepods are still in the thousands and everyone seems very content.
