I top off every 5 days.

We use a 12 Watt, ABI 50/50 Blue/White Par38 LED on a Timer.

We also use a BettaMag.

We use R.O. water.

We use an air stone to mix the new Saltwater for 24-48 hrs.

No heater necessary as our home is warm enough to maintain the temp.

But we have one incase on stand by outside the Vase Reef.

There are over 35 different Corals. SPS, LPS, Octo, Softies, etc.

20 Red Stripe Micro Starfish - maybe more??

Stomatella Snails

1- Mexico Tiny Hermit Crab

Live Rocks

Live Sand 3"

Lights on for 8 hrs. daily on Timer

Occasionally, we will use a piece of Poly Filter, instead of the Air Stone.

It's sitting on a Lazy Susan, so We can see all around if needed, and for the Maintenance.

We use a Digital Thermometer to monitor the Temp.

We use a small fan around the Vase Reef in the Summer months.

We Drip the Top Off with a DIY dripper, made of a soup bowl and a air line valve fitted on the bottom.

She's over 3 yrs old now. We're in our journey for year #4.

How is gasexchange possible if you have a lid for the vase?
Is it drilled in said lid?
Is the airstone pressure leaking out of the top?
Looks really nice.
Please post pics from all angles!

Peace.

Thanks for having a look and comment.

We greatly appreciate this.

As per the Vase being "drilled", No.

It's all running on an air line tubing and Whisper Air Pump with Dial.

As per "Gas Exchange", it's accomplished well with the 4 " of clearance space between the water line and the Bow Cover. Also, the cover has an opening that allows the tubing to go through, and that also allows air flow and escape.

As per "more angles", you can have a look at our YouTube Channel, just type Maritza The Vase Reef. You will see all of our Videos and this Vase Reef documented since Day 1.

Hope this helps. Any other question (s), please post.

Blessings All.

Peace To All.
We need to clear something up.
When We posted this pic and details on what we're doing with Maritza The Vase Reef, We were not knocking the Technologies that's available for Marine and Reef Keeping.
We are just keeping all informed on how We've managed to accomplish our Reef Keeping experiences, in particular with Vase Reef Keeping, which seemed impossible years ago.
Thanks to Brandon429, and all his hard works and dedication, We are able to borrow from his concept and build on it with our experiences and differences. Archiving and Documenting our journey so far, has provided a little more information that may help someone else up the road.
We are not coming off as "this is the only way". Vase Reef Keeping is still very much young and growing. For this reason, we are trying to contribute to this great way of Reef Keeping with some Videos, Blogs, Pics, etc..
We don't have all the Answers. But We may have some.
We are involved and for this reason, we may be of some assistance to anyone wanting to keep a Vase Reef.
Once again, this is not the only way. It's just another way, with a few years backing. As we continue decoding the "unseen", hopefully we will be able to share with you all.
So when We write, No GAC, No GFO, No Protein Skimmer, No Reactors, No etc...It's not to take away from those very useful and even necessary variables that may be necessary for some to maintain and become successful in their Marine and Reek Keeping experiences.
Hope this clears the air...
We are Maritza The Vase Reef.
Nothing More...Nothing Less...
Some People Keep Dead Flowers In Their Vase.
We Keep Live Corals And Inverts In Ours.
Blessings For All..

KISS = Keep it Simple, stupid!

There's no right and wrong when it comes to reefing. Like the fact that you do without lots of equipment that we others can't do without. If it works, don't fix it. I myself start out with what I thinks is the basic need for my tank, and add what's needed when I notice something is missing (I have plenty of room, sump twice the size of the showcase aquarium;) ). Really cool seeing this super simple layout.

BTW, why would you need a skimmer if you do up to 100% weekly waterchanges! Water must be crispy clear.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for having a look and commenting.

Sorry for the double posting.

Yes, the water is super "Crispy Clear".

Corals and Inverts are great.

There are definitely wrong ways, but I understand your point.

And Yes, We do plenty of "KISS" ing with Marine and Reef Keeping.

I agreed with You, "why do I need a Skimmer", and for our particular set up and maintenance, We don't. But throughout our Vase Reef journey, We hear it all.

Appreciate your enjoyment.

Happy Reef Keeping and Much Success.

Blessings All.
