Ive thought of doing that exact thing with a 10 or 5 gallon, how deep did you make your back section?

The 'refugium' section is about 4" deep, which was decided by the width of my powerhead and my unwillingness to make more than one cut in the plastic (Home depot had 8"x10" Lexan sheets).
