No substrate also helps. I'm not recommending people do this but it has worked well for me. These fish have been in this tank for close to a year. The LFS is also like a block away so i can get water any time. Quote Link to comment

This is a harsh environment for 2 clowns no matter what. If your tank was like 6ish gallons or more I could see this working... Do you plan to leave them in there for their whole lives?
