If you're a beginner, i suggest that u start with anything not less than 30 gallons. The tang in my tank is a 4" Vlamingi tang which can grow to 2 feet in length! (Not good for a nano-reef). I just put him in there temporarily for a friend who was away. What makes a tank a reef and not a reef? Simple. A reef has plenty of corals (both hard and soft) and invertebrates like snails, crabs, shrimp, worms, etc.

Hey! I really like your tank. It looks great. I have a 33 gallon flat back hex that is still cycling. What do you suggest i should put in it.

Fish, Corals, Inverts Ect.

It's 2.5 feet long all glass aquarium. Nothing fancy about it as it's more than 12 years old. Back then they didn't have such fancy/nice aquariums. U really think it's nice? Thanks!

Just one powerhead, a HAGEN AquaClear filter connected to a surface skimmer, 2X 18W fluorescent lamps and a cheap "clone" protein skimmer(which I don't use very often!)

hi

i must compliment you on you tank.

you have given some specs on your tank but i would like to know how you did that.

how often do you do water changes and do you not have a sump or any other filter media?

how do you keep the water quality so high?

what big problems have you had and how did you handle them?

regards

p.s. you really need to post more pictures.

A beginner should start with nothing less than 30 gallons?? What difference does 1 gallon make?

when you have a larger tank, you have a larger body of water. this means that water parameters, like temperature, salt level, ph, etc. dont fluctuate as much, because it takes a lot more to change them in a larger tank. but when you have a small aquarium, it can be harder to keep water quality up, because something small could make your water parameters/quality go up and down quickly.

i have a 35 set up right now and i was thinking of downgrading to a 29 because i cant find any lights/light that will work with my tank but nice looking tank otherwise but i would get the tang out of there
