Lexan and my MH

I asked for advice on how to replace my MH glass which had shattered. I was told to use Lexan. This is what happened 10 minutes after turning on the light.

You need to go to a glass shop and get a piece of glass. I think the glass needs a filter in the glass itself. What kind of fixture is that? I have a extra glass for a sunpod I will give you if it will work. PM me if I can help in anyway.

Just checked you need UV glass. Most MH fixtures have UV glass. Some corallife fixtures use bulbs with a UV shield built into the bulb.

A big part of asking for advice is making sure the person helping you is smarter than yourself...... You chose poorly

Unfortunately not LFS advice, but rather I hate to say it, but it was NR advice. If you search my threads, you'll find it over the last few days.

Lawnman--thanks so much for the help. I ended up just buying a replacement from JBJ After all the hastle of ACE hardware cutting the glass and that going bad, then my cutting Lexan and that going bad, I just figured I'll drop the extra cash.

Good deal. Make sure you get a piece of UV glass to cover the tank until you get the replacement glass.

I love all the LFS advice comments. I've been a very involved hobbyist for six years. I have worked at a fish store for 6 months. You guys must have some crap LFS'. I don't work with anyone who would ever advise that.

I had a LFS guy prove how good an LED fixture was by shining it in my eyes (blinding me) and saying look how bright it is. What a boob.
