My first saltwater aquarium: standard 10 gallon tank with 4xT5 (2x10k, 2xatinic) light, ~20lbs live rock and a 1" live sand bed. Set up and cycling on 8/22/11.

Thanks for the input! I won't be using any mechanical filtration, so I figured the more like rock the better.. maybe a little overboard though.

I thought that the amount of LR was all preference with 1 lb/gal being a general guideline. Personally I like a lot of LR in my tanks. My 60 Gal has only about 40 lbs or so and has been doing just fine for years, but that was how my friend set it up, I am going to be adding more LR over time. I like your aquascape, personally I would keep what you have. Also some rock is heavier/more dense than others, it's all about surface area and not really weight. The more surface area for the bacteria to inhabit the better job of filtration they can do.

The growth of coral will take over in the tank. ask yourself more room for rock or coral? once they take over youll bite yourself in the butt because you have to chose either upgrade bigger tank size or take out live rock plus if everything is balanced your live rock load wont matter much!

I kind of like the holes in the life rock. maybe take that big chuck of (dead rock?) off the right side and put the live rock in it's place?
