We were never really sure why. Our theory's included communication/parasite removal, and or mating behavior. Sometimes thousands would be jumping out of the water at the same time. We would play classical music on our boats speakers and just sit back and watch the fun

there was a half eaten sting ray under my truck tire the other day. i bet some punk caught it and chopped it up for bait.

I have seen an Atlantic ray jump out of the tank at the local science museum
