is he actually going after them? I posted a shot of my emerald "snuggling" under my ric like a blanket...he pulled and tugged a little but didnt hurt it at all

Not sure actually. He was definitely pulling on the tips but I pulled him out and put him in the sump. I hope that's the case because I'm looking at the Ric now and it seems fine. Maybe I'll try him back in the DT tomorrow.

Mine did the same. I watched him rip at the tips. The ric would spill some brown goo and curl up. It would heal grow and split faster than he snaked on it though.
