Silvergumby Posted July 31, 2010 Did it float upside down when you released it? Quote Link to comment
Nick's Reef Posted July 31, 2010 Caught it on a penn 9/0 on 8' 6" 80-unlimited custom rod. Reel was spooled with 80lb line then 20ft of 400lb shock then 10ft of 19# (piano) wire with 20/0 circle hook bait was a wing off a 3ft wide or so sting ray. And no she didn't float upside down had to walk he into the current for about 5min to get her goin but she swam off fine. We try to get them back in the water asap, she was out of the water 2min tops and her head was close enough to the water that when a swell came water was going over her gills. I will try to revive a shark for half an hour if i have to to get it to swim off. Edit: Hammers try to bite their tail once they're on the beach so it's very hard to control them, the only way I was able to sit on top of her like that is since if you keep pressure on the tail rope and leader they can't move their head or tail side to side. Plus you've got to get on top of them and open their mouth to get the hook out. Quote Link to comment

reef-luva Posted December 29, 2010 ...catch and release is fine with me, he seems to know what he's doin' down there. I am sure Kev has good intentions, but I am sure he has killed a few fish, if not more, surely on accident, but dead is dead, right? Quote Link to comment
