it's furry red algae. not sure past that. john id'd it in the reefcleaners ID thread. it's 17" off the water and 30" off the sandbed.

What are you doing about tat furry red algae? I have the same stuff I have been fighting.

next week getting 10 blue-legged hermits and 10 nerites. john says they eat them. my emerald picks at the stuff but doesn't make much of a dent. i've noticed since adding the LEDs that it is losing it's red color and turning lighter pink, which means it's not getting the lighting it needs. evilc66 said that was an effect the LEDs have on algae.

OKay, thanks. I;ve got some nerites, but maybe U'll add half a dozen hermits. Turbos seem to go over it when it is short, but once it gets long they lose interest.

I completely tore down my frag tank and replaced the egg crate because of that. Oddly enough I have LEDs over my frag tank... Mine was lighter pink directly under the LEDs like it was getting bleached out. Everywhere else it was dark like yours. That stuff is the devil!
