NEEDREEF Posted October 18, 2009 How do they catch the mysis?? Just as they float by or do you have to feed it directly?? Would love to have this in my future nano. What kind and power of lighting is best for this coral??? Quote Link to comment
thatoneazn Posted October 18, 2009 They don't produce their own food from light, you need to entice them at first to get the feeders out at night, eventually they will do it on their own with no food present...You need to target feed them,i am trying to have mine open during the day also...they are really are amazing coral Quote Link to comment
cadreamer Posted October 26, 2009 The store I bought them and all my coral at said you just have to train them to open during the day. You squirt some food in the tank to get them to open...and you feed them over about an hour's time. (I do it that long so the mean crabs don't pull the food out of they polyps mouth.) After a while they find that the light isn't hurting them and they only get fed during the day. I also found my polyps were food snobs. They only liked the mysis shrimp at first. Now, they will eat anything. I also found out they LOVED garlic. I had to treat my tank and food because of my clown fish. Anywho, they LOVED the garlic. So now, after i put any food in the tank whether it's feeding night or not for them they open and stay open until morning. Wow, sorry for the book. Oh bye the way I'm so excited!: my sun polyps had babies all over my tank. I've counted at least 15 new ones through out the tank. Quote Link to comment
cadreamer Posted October 26, 2009 NEEDREEF: All you have to do is use a turkey baster and slowly squirt the food over ALL of the polyps so they all get to eat. The food sticks to their tentacles as it lands on them or brushes them. They then put the food in their mouth and swallow it whole. They are really great! Quote Link to comment
