SEM image of bristle worm appendages

Image of a dried bristle worm showing appendage detail taken with a Scanning Electron Microscope at a magnification of 200x and an accelerating voltage of 25k volts. The worm was coated in a gold palladium alloy (thickness of 10 nanometers) to prevent electron beam deflection due to charging. The worm was removed from my reef tank, dried, and imaged using a Hitachi S800 SEM.

Nice picture. Not something you see very often (probably due to the specialized and expensive equipment necessary!).

Yeah, this is very original and great to see close up shots like this using equipment I will never have access to. Again, thanks for sharing. I learned something. Who knew what a bristle worm's bristle really looked like. :-) Now I do...
