You can find my camera new for $500, but if I where you I would spend an extra $300 and get the Rebel T1i w/HD video.

1080p @ 20 fps, 720p @ 30 fps. So after that purchase I would imagine I have to add on a macro lens. Tempting and not good this late at night when I get spend happy on business supplies.

There will never be a good time for a large unnecessary purchase. That is why you have to just crack open a few beers. Get a little drunk, and bite the bullet.

Do it. I don't have a macro lens on my camera. In fact every picture I have posted on this site was taken with a Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS. Cost $125, but a lot of the cameras come with a similar kit lens. Just pour yourself a new jack and coke and open your wallet.

Seriously, the new low-end Canons function great with their kit lenses. It's obscene that they work better now than the pro line from 2 generations ago.
