Pyramid snail bleeding?

I took this pyramid snail out of my tank. It was white when I pulled it out, but after a few minutes it started getting darker and then a red liquid appeared in it...weird.......

A bought a bunch of those for my reef tank. My LFS said their goo for cleaning algae in between zoas.
