Are those fresh water guppies? You are cycling a salt water tank with fresh water guppies?

guppies can handle saltwater, just like mollies. actually, if they died THAT would be the best way to cycle the tank

hmm, right now they are busy pecking at the algae on the glass, they don't look even slightly agitated... and since they are all males they are happy enough to display their manliness to each other (spread their fins, play-fight and all... pretty cool)

Mollies are cheaper, though. Or even feeder goldfish, although I'm not sure that they can acclimate. Pretty neat idea, though. I have a spare mollie in my other tank, maybe I can use that to kick-start the cycle. Of course, I'd remove it if it started freaking out. What did you use, drip-acclimation?

Edit: Nice decoration! Didn't notice that at first.

Did it come like that or did u pait it?

I like to cycle with only rock ...and it the tank is bug, i get a damsel or 2....but then its hard to throw away 8 bucks since i have to give it back !!Is that a 10G?

yeah it's a ten gallon... and yeah i painted the tank about a year ago hehehe it had orchids and a salamander on it until about 5 months, i started acclimating all of my guppies and mollies for a while by just adding sea salt to the fresh bare tank...

so i just increased the salinity/gravity for a period until it reached the desired gravity. then when they where fully salt water i added the live sand and rock...
