Octopi Posted November 17, 2006 That's what happens when you drop one piece of food into a tank full of starving fish. They're all screaming mine! mine! mine! Quote Link to comment
surferdan Posted November 18, 2006 I thought that but the thing that made me think otherwise was how they just stayed thatway, moving around the tank the whole time i was there. It almost seemed like they were hosting eachother! It was pretty neet. Dan Quote Link to comment

Tony Posted December 2, 2006 it looks like a couple of those guy's have some cool missbaring. They probabley would group like that in the wild if they didnt have parents to look after them or places to hide. It's common for a lot of fish to group together to confuse predators. Quote Link to comment
Maroon Clownfish Posted January 14, 2007 That is freakin' awesome. Nice misbarring, too. Quote Link to comment
reefcub Posted September 12, 2009 This is pretty common as Tony made the point to denote. This is something young fish do as a thwart to predators. The idea is that a large mass that is in constant flux, that is their outline is always changing makes the survivability of the school as a whole greater by way of right out confusion, than if it was a singular fish with a noticeable outline. The size of the group as a whole also scares off some predators as they will equate the totality of the school as a much larger fish and something they don't want to mess with. Quote Link to comment
ScionRacerbB Posted September 25, 2009 Reminds me of a bait ball I was diving off of Cabo. Quote Link to comment
