Deleted User 8530 Posted June 28, 2004 That is a BEA UTIFUL tank! I like it but how big is the clown? AND THATS THE WAY THE COOKIE CRUMBLES Quote Link to comment
Seamus Posted June 28, 2004 The clown is rather small. About 1.5" He's been in the tank for close to 3 months. Currently he's the only fish in the tank. Quote Link to comment

prec1se456 Posted August 4, 2004 what kind of tank is that.very ncie. how much did you pay for it. where did you get it. once again great looking tank Quote Link to comment
Seamus Posted August 10, 2004 The tank is a ViaAqua 18 Gal. It came with a 50/50 PC strip light but I have since replaced the light with a 150W DE Metal Halide - the bulb is a 20,000 K XM bulb. It was very blue at first but after a few weeks it brightened up quite a bit. With the halide the water temp runs on the high side around 82oF. The tank and original light fixture were about $179 at a LFS. There is about 40 lbs of Fiji live rock in the tank. The pendant light was $199. I have since added a few new inhabitants - will post some new pictures soon. Quote Link to comment

harsaphes Posted September 1, 2004 what equipment are you running on this tank? Quote Link to comment
Seamus Posted September 1, 2004 Here's a list of equipment currently being used with this tank: Millenium 2000 HOB Filter, usually just running carbon. 50 W ProHeat Titanium Heater 1 Aqua Clear 430 (?) Powerhead 2 Micro Jet Power Heads 150 Watt, DE, HQI Metal Halide Pendant, 20,000K XM Bulb 40 lb Fiji Live Rock and 20 lb Aragonite Substrate. I was using a Sea Clone 100 skimmer but it was taking up too much space and looked bad in the tank. Skimmerless for now. I ditched the stock lighting because of problems with the Via Aqua ballast and I wanted MH lighting anyway. I use Seachem Ca/Alk supplements but thats about it. Feed some DT's occasionally, flakes or brineshrimp for the clown. Weekly 10-20% water changes with RO/DI water. Good luck - let me know if you want any more info on the tank. Gotta love those Via Aqua's. Quote Link to comment
d[J]_a[Q]ua Posted September 1, 2004 yea i heard ppl say the ballast doesnt last long? but if does burn out you can just get an ice cap ballast and everything will be nice and neat right? Quote Link to comment
Seamus Posted September 2, 2004 I wish I knew the answer to that... I would like to use the fixture on a 10 Gal set-up, but I have not been able to get a good answer on a substitute ballast. Via Aqua (Commidity Axis) will replace the ballast under warranty - but I would like to try another brand. If I get a ballast taht works with the light I'll post here. I asked the same question some time ago and did not get any reccomendations. I'm sure there is a solution - just haven't tried hard enough to find it yet. Quote Link to comment
Davidd Posted September 12, 2004 I just decided that that's my favorite tank on this site. I mean, honestly, you can't get much sweeter than that. Quote Link to comment
