aquaman7 Posted April 9, 2006 Lookin' good... what powerhead do they put in that tank? Is it a Rio? Quote Link to comment
madtoucan Posted April 9, 2006 Rio 600. Its doing good so far, quiet and providing just about the right waterflow for the shrooms and hammer. So far its all stock. Quote Link to comment
madtoucan Posted April 9, 2006 I would liek to add som xenia at the top but Im afraid when the hammer grows out it will bother the xenia. Does anyone have any suggestions for other corals? Quote Link to comment
CaboKent Posted April 9, 2006 How do you plan on keeping it cool during the hot summer months? I am asking this because I was thinking about getting one. Quote Link to comment
madtoucan Posted April 9, 2006 It pretty much just stays just above room temp at 72-74. The way the tank comes stock keeps it right at 1 or 2 degrees above room temp with the light on roughly 10 hrs. Its a good setup for someone who doesnt want to deal with alot of plumbing, but it is expensive for a 3gallon. Quote Link to comment
madtoucan Posted April 9, 2006 no, it doesnt need one, and there really isnt much room for one if it did. Quote Link to comment
madtoucan Posted April 9, 2006 The only additional thing I add to it is Purigen Quote Link to comment
CaboKent Posted April 9, 2006 So I guess the heat generated from the powerhead keeps the temp steady. Quote Link to comment
aquaman7 Posted April 9, 2006 ^That and the lights should as well. My guess is he gets a little temp drop at night when the lights go out but nothing to drastic. I think the xenia's would be ok at the top for a while but if you are worried about the hammers catchin' up with them maybe an anthelia that stays shorter would work. Tinyreef has a bunch of stuff like that in his pico, you can see it in his stock contest thread http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=69492&hl=tinyreef. That would be an alternative to the xenia.
