What am I?

I am the brownish bent over thing hanging out on the substrate. I came in a frag pack and my Dad doesn't know what I am or where to place me in the tank. He thinks I am a mushroom but either I am just a baby or there is something wrong with me. At night I raise nearly straight up and look to have a mouth type thing.
