Got my BC29 today......

TEALCOBRA

Recommended Posts

i bought the same pump, were talking about the rio 6HF right? It pushes an awesome amount of water, except its kind of loud. teal, how do u have ur pump mounted? mine doesnt seem to fit the way the stock oceanic pump did (level) with the suction cups, its just kind of on an angle. With the new fans i have at 16 dB, all i hear is the rio and its pretty loud. Maybe its vibrating?

Mines quiet as can be.... I have it angled in the chamber, its a tight fit, but I have zero issues with it fitting..... If youre looking at the third chamber from the front of the tank, its goes from the far left corner of that chamber to the front right corner...

arent you guys scared its going to stratch your tanks? or it cant?

Im sure it technically COULD (like if something got on it and you used it..) but they work fine and ive not seen a single scratch on my glass..

The mag floats will scratch if a pc of sand gets attached. I had to take mine out of the tank, every time my kids were around the tank they would be using the mag and I now have a scratch across the front.

My Rio 6HP is loud, my tank is in my room and I can hear the pump running at night were as I never heard the Oceanic pump. I like the extra flow so I've kept it.

Have you tried angling it different ways in the third chamber or anything ?? Mines as quiet as can be....

I agree, mine is whisper quiet. I've got the 6 little rubber nubs instead of the suction cups, and got it seated just perfect in there. At first it was not in right, and was leaning against the tank or the false back, and then the vibration was noticeable, but after resituating it super quiet

It looks like a really elaborate bong to me.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I should be putting it in tomorrow when I do my weekly water change, so we should see how it goes within a week or so... hope it works as good as it looks...

Well, I got around to getting some work done on the hood today... all the holes are cut... the two rear ones for the 2 80mm fans, and the front will be used as an intake... I have some steel mesh for computer cases that will go into those holes so itll look nice and clean.... next step is to fill all the slits for the old fans and the switches... :D

umm...one in two out??? two in one out??? If all are matched units are you not going to get positive preasure inside the splash gaurd and nearly negate the odd fan?

just my uniformed, random thoughts from looking at a picture and assuming I know what your doing

Two fans, both blowing out, and one blank intake hole.... The one by the front door is just going to be a blank intake.... That will allow more than enough air into the hood to be exhausted.....

This was the same principle I used when I used to make custom amplifier racks for cars and it always gave the best temperature reductions of any other ideas ive tried... I used to run my amplifiers at a half ohm and they would get SOOOOOOO hot.... this brought the temps down a TON. I did a bunch of Mh research and was told that temp wont effect the LUX and PAR of MH lighting like it does to PC lighting, so im going for as much airflow as possible....

I am also going to have another 60mm fan inside the hood shooting air across the bulb and fixture itself to try getting it out of the hood as fast as possible...

Yes.... yes I was. Im suprised I can still hear correctly honestly. :) I used to enter local classes in the 100 watt class, and use 2 50w amplifiers..... Although at a half ohm they were closer to 400w's. :D

I used to use 2 dual voice coil 12" subs, I shattered the drivers side window in the car one time... it was pretty rough..... Granted it was a 89 Escort GT, so I doubt the glass was of the thicker type, but it still sucked.

A little scarry!! though you could have wired the dual in series and then a second in parallel and squeezed in 2 more drivers about a 15db gain from close proximity drivers coupling theire bass energy...hehehe thankfully when I was younger my grasp of sound theory and speaker design was not nearly as advanced as now, otherwise I'm sure I'da pimped out my tunes more so than half-way job I did back then
