|n0_0ne|
Anyone know what this coral is called? It has a soft tissue that inflates on its skeletal base, and is clusterd together. Each on a seperate head. Link to comment

sjpresley
It is a Blastomussa merleti. They seem to prefer indirect light (as in under a ledge), but will adapt to most lighting situations, current doesnt' seem to matter much. They are tough, I once lost a frag with only 3 polyps behind my reef until it showed up 3+ months later with all of the polyps left but pulled away from the skeleton in parts, they all healed up and it now has 5 polyps. TiGs
I like that color blastomussa you got. It must glow a nice purple under atinics. My blasto was placed on the bottom of tank with less than 25% shaded , after a month it started to recede and you could see the skeleton. My water tested fine. I did my weekly water change and shaded my blasto 90% from the light and now it is recovering. I don't know if the water change or was it moving it under the shade that helped. Link to comment
