AzeX
Its about time to replace my Metal halide bulb. I currently run 14k Hamilton SE 250 watt bulb with the not even noticable Marine-Glo 24watt NO(lol washes out when MH is on >_<) I've read somewhere that the 14k hamilton has relatively low par compared to other 250 watt SEs. Also, the 14k hamilton is still to blue for my taste. I kinda want more natural looking yellow with planned VHO acintics to balance it out. Currently I'm looking at: 1. XM 10k 2. Ushio 10k 3. something reeflux 10k?(I think thats itsname) 4. Coravue 10k(unless thats the same as the above lol) thinking it off the top of my head Any other bulbs I should look into? Mainly want to get the color as close to as Tigahboy's tanks But I believe tigah runs T5s(very poor to change over right now ) And of course, changing my NO bulb and going to use Acintic VHO(cause i heard its the "best" acintics. thanks =)) Link to comment
Samc
Coralvue makes a reeflux and a regular bulb. I like the look of my 150 watt reeflux compared with a 20k regular coralvue. The reeflux has the best par except for the Ushio, which is far to yellow from what I have seen online (I know pictures aren't the best for comparisons). Sam Link to comment

Sam ya i've heard Ushios are hardcore yellow for most people. I wonder how does it compare to this Ebay metal halide I bought. Made by "Plus Brand" was so yellow that natural sun that snuck into the tank was nearly washed out. I've heard XM is great, cept they have short bulb life? Link to comment

Samc
Xm 10k is a decent bulb...the reeflux is more blue and kicks more par to boot. Stay away fromt he XM 15k..horrible par. http://www.reeflightinginfo.arvixe.com/ http://www.cnidarianreef.com/ The top link is Dr. Sanjays lighting site...he IS THE expert Bottom link has best color comparison currently available online; be warned that the 250 watt se bulbs don't have the exact same color as 150 or even 250 watt de bulbs, but it should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect. The regular coralvue bulbs lack the words reeflux. The 10k standard coralvue, 250 watt, looks VERY similar to the 150 watt de reeflux I have! Link to comment
AzeX
wow thanks for the site. The Iwasaki bulbs seems pretty diesel when it comes to PAR lol. at the site, http://www.reeflightinginfo.arvixe.com/ There are 2 tests of Coralvue SE 250 watt 10k. Is one of them the regular Coralvue, and the other the Reeflux? Premium Aquatics seem to have pretty good pricing for there Metal Halide bulbs(its where I got my Hamilton) Is this the CoralVue Reeflux 10k? http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/m...ry_Code=mh-250w Any other sites that has a good price for them? thanks =)) Link to comment
Dc110770
bump Not that hot on makes to be honest but I got a 20k 150w double ender from ebay think the bulb comes from china! Really nice and not overly blue. Might be woorth considering? Link to comment
AzeX
I only got a 250 watt SE ballast But now, I'm thinking of XM 10k 250 watt lol. I want more PAR, accordin to Sanjay's site, the Reeflux's PAR is almost half of the XM 10k. Of course, more yellow so I'm thinking of VHO, or T-5 Acintics. Link to comment
