How often should i clean the Powerheads filter?

personally i would do it about once a week. the bacteria is going to build on these sponges which will compete with your lr. these pads are much more efficient than the rock and will actually starve the bacteria on your rock to death. i would definately clean them regularly because cleanign under hot water will keep the bacteria down which will keep your rock happy.

the heads them self every 3 months is fine UNLESS the coraline is heavy on them and clogging parts. Also I use sponge Pree-filters. I clean those once a week, but not all at the same time. usualy a feww days apart so as not to strip the biological process of bacteria.
