Glindorf Posted February 4, 2003 Author Posted February 4, 2003 How soon should I even be thinking of coral? I think that it would be best if I waited till phosphates were gone along with my algae, right?
Glindorf Posted February 6, 2003 Author Posted February 6, 2003 All of the Trochus snails are dead now:( It's seven days tomorrow.
tinyreef Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 glin, stop using the tablets or blocks or whatever. get the dead snails and anything else dead out. do a 50% water change and start over. don't think about additives and stuff now. stabilize the tank first. don't even think snails at this point let alone coral. let the tank run and settle in. ballpark about one month until you're ready again for snails. crawl, walk, and then reef. hth
cmoreash Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 tiny, he's taken everything out dead, tank params are OK, just a cyano problmi think.... dont ask, i talked to him today
Glindorf Posted February 6, 2003 Author Posted February 6, 2003 hehe! Thanks cmoreash Ya, we already talked about it, and I guess it's going maybe a little slow, but more or less, on schedule. So guess what, I get a $15.94 credits in their online store now, and I get to keep my dead snail shells ^_^ I was all prepared to return them. Now to find a way to remove the dead snails from their shells, after being in a freezer with two teaspoons of salt for a week.... ^_^ That should be interesting. By the way, I wasn't sure if that snail was dead or not, it did flinch when I touched it. So I put it on the sand. It's pretty disgusting just how much nassarius snails love decomposing critters X) Oh well! At least the snail is gone, and it's just one more free shell ! We'll, now back to my water change. (I'm not using tablets any more, just in case anybody wanted to know. I'm using Tropic Marin sea salts, along with B-Ionic (haven't started yet. Trying to figure out the dosage to give them). And just in case that doesn't do it, I have some Red Sea Success suplements (6 of them) just in case (They came with the test kit ^_^))
