FishMaster1000
Hey guy...I have a 28 bowfront I am looking to setup within the month. The only problem is the damn center brace. I wanted to put one of those clip on Metal Halides, but obviously the centerbrace is in the way. Is it safe to remove it? I wouldn't want to take the risk unless some people have done it and are absolutely sure that there is no large risk. Well thats it....Thanks Link to comment
supernip
I dunno about glass tanks, but on one of the acrylic tanks an lfs i used to work at... the center bracing was really important. It got heated up too much by a 250 de one day and busted off. The tank bowed a good couple inches. Super unsafe and had to be replaced. Link to comment
jeremai
If you're worried about it, you could take that brace off and put two smaller ones on either side of where your MH fixture would go. The braces were put there for a reason, though - better safe than sorry Link to comment
MarineManiac
thats the one HUGE reason i did not buy a bowfront, that dumb brace. now i just bought a 29 instead. 1/5 the price Link to comment
