Hang on back fuge

Im redoing the plumbing on my 15gH tank and I am going to remove my HOB AC 70 fuge. But I liked the idea of having chaeto for nutrient export instead of using chemical means.

 

Are there any designs for a HOB fuge? Also could I use the .25in acrylic they sell at lowes/homedepot or do I need something stronger?
