accord86
I'm moving my current 20L into a new drilled 20L very soon. If I move the sandbed, would it cause a nitrate spike or even a semi-cycle? I only have about 3/4" of sand and it is pretty much only for aesthetics and buffering. Would I be better off putting new sand in the new tank, or would I be fine moving all the sand? Link to comment
gjones
I'd use all new sand with a cup of old sand to prevent an ammonia spike Link to comment
Gwoardnog
If you've been stirring your sand all ready you shouldn't have much of a problem with 3/4". If you haven't been you can start stiring up a bit of the bed each week to "freshen it up" a bit before the move. Honestly with only 3/4" I doubt you'd have any trouble what-so-ever. Link to comment
