Winged Ocean
http://community.webshots.com/image4/0/77/...08NsidXE_ph.jpg What type of macro and how can you trim or transplant it, or can you? It grew from a piece of florida rock, and grows from a thin, stalk and bushes out as you see in pic. Thanks. Link to comment
Dave ESPI
From what I can guestemate, it is NOT a yellow or brown algae, but is perhaps a species of green or red that is bleaching or dying. As close as I can try to get you..... GREEN: Codium isthmocladum RED: Galaxauora subverticillia Both are bushy with a semi hard calcified body and "fuzz" that are ringed in LONG and SHORT strands. Growth can be irregular and are found in slack waters and shallow reef flats. Both have a circular basal holdfast. HTH. Link to comment
Winged Ocean
Thanks for the response. Its a green algae of some sort, and I know its not dying because it is fast growing and continues to do so. It stays a rich green. Thats one of my concerns is if it can be trimmed without hurting it. I figure it will become very large very fast. The growth in the pic is 4 months worth of growth. It grew out of the rock that I put in the tank 4 months ago. Its pretty. Thanks Link to comment
