ENGINEER
I am planning on 2 x 55 PC in my 29g. However, I am not sure if I would need to install a fan in the canopy. I will place the bulbs about 5 inches off the water surface. Depending on what you guys tell me about the heat, the back of the canopy will be either fully opened or partially covered. I am also going to use 2 maxi 600s, 150w heater, and a CPR BakPak skimmer. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Link to comment
zumzumn
I had pretty much the same set up. i would blow a 3 inch fan across the bulbs and leave one of the glass tops on to cover the bulbs from splash and that should do the trick. on hot days i would crack the canopy open with a pencil. other than that you will be set. J-Bass
If you can fit a 10 or 15 gal or even a rubbermaid container in the tank stand, I'd suggest you get the 29gal. drilled for overflow. Ditch the powerheads, just stick your heater in the sump and use a good return pump. A rio 1700 or 2100 would be enough. Then you can use lockline at each top corner of your tank for return. Stick a euro-reef es-52 skimmer in the sump. And get a mini-hqi pendant, 150watt should suffice. You'll get the chicks hot & bothered with this set-up! Hahahaha, schyeahhhh right. Link to comment
