desmo13 Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 I just got a small grogspawn frag. a branch about 2 in long, and maybe a 1" circumference head. is there any special mounting things I need to do? I can just stick the branch in my rockwork right?
coralcrazy Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 you can secure it in rock work, or you could go to the lfs and get epoxy, or even the super gel that they sell..hope that helps.
desmo13 Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 Thank you. yeah, I stuck the end of the skeleton in a hole in my rock. pretty secure, even when it branches it should be fine.
desmo13 Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 So, sunday night, had this frag since friday. I moved him to a lower spot in the tank, less flow, a little more extension, but he hasnt fully opened. this afternoon I say what must be his tentacles out and moving a bit. here is a pic from firday, not much change to today here it is sunday night
desmo13 Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 monday morning, no change in the frogspawn. my ohter corals (shrooms, and zoa's look great)
audiocontrol Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 yea....it is definatly stressed. I bought a similar sized piece for $5 from my lfs...it was in the damaged section. He opened up the very next day. The only thing that may be causing that is if your parameters are worse on some levels than the LFS, such as nitrites or whatever.
desmo13 Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 I too got him from the 9.99 frag tank at my lfs. Where they put broken/not doing well pieces from their show tanks. Nitrites are zero. wondering about calcium/alk.. I dont have tests for those.
Caesar777 Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Just give it time. Have you been moving it around? They don't like that. It isn't dead, not necessarily dying, either. Just give it time.
Doriftu Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 like caesar said, give it time, and most importantly just keep your hands off it, i find as im sure that others do, the more you touch them, the more you stress and the more likely they are to not survive. They are a picky coral, and take time to come around. HOpefully your piece pulls through.
