JayReefer
Anyone ever mod a skilter 400 into a fuge? You could use one half fuge and other half skimmer(i know the skimmer is not good) but you could airstone it and make it better then nothing. Any thoughts? Link to comment
maddyfish
I have a skilter 250 as a refuge, only thing a skilter is good for in my opinion. Link to comment
mushroom head
I use the skilter 400 as a refugium. I use one part for carbon and the skimmer. And the other part for live sand, live rock, and macro algae. I say its pretty good. Link to comment

DiverDave
Here's a pic of my 250. You can hot rod the skimmer as you know with an air stone. I used this 250 as a basic skimmer for a while, and now it's just a fuge/iceprobe port. DD Link to comment

DiverDave
The Remora works great. Very little maintenance, and the tank always looks great. Here's a pict taken this morning. Link to comment

DiverDave
Here's the setup... 20 gal all glass tank. Insulated on back, sides, and bottom with 5/8 styrofoam insulation. Remora Aqua C skimmer, Penguin Power filter with no medium (use it for water flow and a holding tank for misc stuff), Skilter 250 used as refugium with cheato/small rock, and as a chamber to use an IceProbe chiller. Tsunami wave maker for 2 rio 800 power heads, also powers the Penguin filter. Lighting consists of 2 VHO 75 watt 50/50 bulbs and 2 VHO 75 watt actinic bulbs. Bulbs are URI, and IceCap electronic ballast powers them From 7 AM to 7 PM. Finally, I have an Aqua Medic 250 Watt A/B 10,000K halide over the top of the VHO's for Noon time lighting from 10 AM ti 3 PM. I use approx 10-15 ml of B-Ionic 2 part alkalinity and calcium additive. In addition to all the corals in the tank (Pict included above), I have one Purple Pseudochromis Fridmani, one yellow clown goby, and one green spotted manderain. All fish are doing well. The yellow goby is a pain in the a$$. It's always on my stony corals and prevents them from polyp expantion. The manderain is very healthy and active. He's always picking on food and readily takes frozen mysis shrimp. Link to comment
