thinking about this. I havea 10 gal glass aquarium and a 36 rubbermaid.

I'm debating whihc one to use.

i'm going to convert the 10 gal into a refugium of macros and 4 skunk cleaner. start a little breeding experiemnt. 10 gal is good cuz its glass so if a shrimp dies, I can see it.

If i use a 36 black plastic rubbermaid, large water capacity but if anythin dies in it, i wont know. plus it's gonna be hidden away in my closet. And how often will I open the closet and check to see if something died or if there is an overflow.

with a 10 gal, I can follow the EXACT method tigahboy used on rbaby's 20galand 10gal sump.

if I use both the 10 gal and rubbermaid I get both a breed tank and increase in water capacity

but because the main circulation in the main display comes from a quiet one pump in the 10 gal, I dunno how to setup both a 36 and 10

I can either casade it. have water flow from tank to tank via bulkheads on the side of the tank. Or I can create two separate plumbing system. one from the circulation and breed tank. and another one for the rubbermaid.

Increased water capacity has its pros adn cons too

it's more stable. but when dosing calcium and adding salt. I'll be paying ALOT.

I might just pile a bunch of live rocks and macro in both the rubber maid and 10 gal tank. but only the 10 gal tank will have the shrimps. with such a big water capacity and so many LR and macro i doubt i'll need a skimmer. but it i do need one I'll just get a remora and hang in on the display tank

WAT DO U GUYS THINK??

i promise a juicy thread in the "member nano" section once I start plumbing and starting my tank. O BOY
