Derby Reefer Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 After my 10gal crash about 2 months ago I wanted to get a bigger tank. My girlfriend's dad had an old 29 gal that he was using at his school that he gave to me. Sweet free tank. But it was a little dirty. So I cleaned it up and painted it. With paint and lights I did a bunch of the pluming this weekend. This is what I have. I do not like how I did it. Also no in this picture is a check valve with greatly reduces my flow from the sump. What I plan on having when I get done is one return from the sump, and a clodes loop system with 2 returns on that. That way I have have the flow that i want with the closed loop, but the fuge and extra water in the sump. Also my MH lights from Aquatraders is BROKE, go figure. OS I contacted them today and am waiting to hear back. I think that I just might have to go witih a better system with my noext paycheck.

Derby Reefer Posted July 19, 2005 Author Posted July 19, 2005 I am not sure, I am asking around. It is either the bulb or something is wrong with the ballast. I hope that it is just the bulb. The the whole system is messed up I will just get a new (good) system.

I asked about the bulb issue, but I would hate to buy a bulb then to find out that the whole thing does not work..Hmmm.. when if I did that then I could always buy a new system and I would already have the bulb. Is there a cheap bulb at like Home Depot that i could buy just to see fi that is it? Just a though.

Derby Reefer Posted July 24, 2005 Author Posted July 24, 2005 Sorry about the pictures. I was messing around with my server today and I shifted a bunch of stuff to make room for my new tank log/blog. The plumbing that is shown in the pictures will not be the final product. Thurs. I am placing my last order for parts and this week-end or beginning of next week (when I get everything in) I will finish the plumbing and do one more water leak test. My Goal is that in 2 weeks from today. I will have filled with SW and have all my rock in place /w lights and all that jazz.

I went to my LFS yesterday because because they just got the new stock in. They have a tank with very small frags for 6.99 or 2 for $10. Most of the time it is some shrooms and a frag with a couple of poly of zoos, but yesterday I got a 2 headed ric for $5. AHAHAHAH. I about lost my mine. Very nice little buddy. I will have pictures up on Sat. Also I got a small frag of GSP that came with 2 small bristle worms and about 4 small bristle stars (I counted) Edit:

Also I added the sand, rock, and water to the 29 gal. Here is a picture of it. I will not have the light in until Wed. Also There will be rock from my 10gal that I will bring over. There will be about 50lbs total when it is all finished.

Derby Reefer Posted August 2, 2005 Author Posted August 2, 2005 The Aqua Medic Ocean Light 1x250W with 20000K HQI Bulb. I was use going to up the Aquatrader 175w light, but it SUCKS and it not longer works. Thanks for the props on the tank. The lights will be up on Thur.

PLus they through in a a free Tee-shirt. Here is a shoot with the Lights. Here is the great Full Tank Shoot. I hope you like.

Derby Reefer Posted August 4, 2005 Author Posted August 4, 2005 I love Sandy's Pet Store. They now have small frages 2 for $10. Aquatica store is very very nice. The things I have gotten from them are of the highest quality, but they are a little expensive. But you will not find better color on coral then at their store.

I used to buy all my corals and livestock from his store because he does have great quality stuff there. I was a regular customer bought R/O water there every week and spent lots of $$$$$$...But after many visits of just standing in the store waiting for help (keep in mind I was the only customer) I now go to Sandy's they have great people there and are always friendly. I also go to East end Aquatics another great place with a great selection. Sorry just thought I would give you a heads up about Aquatica I know many other people that have had the same experiences there as I have....thought I would save you the trouble and frustration.
