mm, a lot of light, but it would be really pretty.

Going for the SeaLife aquarium look. Im always affraid that I'd bump these hang over lighting fixtures and fry my critters. Not to mention myself. Thats a sweet looking hood though!

company isn't so sweet though...check the feedback forums here and on RC. most of their stuff is direct import from china and is of crappy construction.

Posted

I disagree. I am happy with the PC light I got from them. Their construction is right there with Coralife.

Hi Im also very happy with my Odyssea t5ho 48w in my 20g reef, I have two condies without problem.

Posted

Yeah I have read through countlss threads on the company but I also very happy with the light I got from them. The only downfall I could possibly see was with the bulbs and you could easily replace them.

I have an odyssea 175 hqi and am very happy with it. Nice 15k bulb, nice price plus a lot of extras

My guess is that the people who are having success with there current purchases are recieving newer models. People who had bad luck had some of the original models.

there's no such thing as a 175w HQI bulb. show me one other company that sells one and I'll retract that statement

I was also thinking about getting one of these lights, but could never find out if it was an electronic ballast or magnetic. Does anyone know?

Posted

I believe it's the ballast that is 175w.

However, single ended bulbs can have an HQI denotation. In fact, HQI is a label that was created by GE I believe.

So you're saying that the HQI is just a notation, it isn't really a HQI bulb?

The Odyssea t5ho lighting is a new model, here are some pics of the system:

Looks like a decent product to me

negative, my bulb says 175. ive seen both their 150 and 175 versions. if I took a pic of it would it shut you up?

Posted

It might arouse me.

I'd recommend doing some searching before purchasing the fixture - I almost bought one, figured for the price it had to be too good to be true. I found some threads like this one where people were happy with the product, but also quite a few where people mentioned disappointment and/or downfalls. Since I have no personal hands-on experience with the fixture/bulbs I in no way discourage anyone from getting one, but based on the mixed reviews I've seen I'd advise taking some time to do in-depth research before purchasing.
