dmnelson84
This is my first salt water tank so please scrutinize and comment. 7g mini-bow, 3" DSB, 8.5 lbs. of well cured Tongan LR (2 pieces), 50W heater, Penguin BIO-Wheel 100, 40W Power Compact Clean-up Crew: 1 Cerith Snail 3 Nassarius Snails 1 Bumble Bee Snail 3 Dwarf Blue Leg Hermits 1 Electric Blue Leg Hermit I plan on adding a pair of black Ocellaris Clowns, a Fire Shrimp, and an Emerald Crab in the next month. Thus far my only problem was eliminating 3 small Aiptasia Anemones that came as hitchhikers on my rock. I simply squirted each of them with about 1/4ml of Combo Sol #1 (calcium + iodine + strontium) and it fried them up quite nicely. I'm still debating whether or not to add corals. I think I want to go the zoanthid/mushroom route. If I do this, other than photosynthesis and the addition of trace elements via Combo Sol #1, what do they need to stay healthy? I've heard feeding is a requirement. What type of "food" do they need? Please go in to detail and keep in mind that I'm new to the hobby. Thanks for all the comments and advice in advance. Feel free to ask any questions as I plan on checking the forums quite often. Link to comment
proraptor
Looks good...I would make a refugium out of an aquaclear 500 and grow some cheato in it...My refugium really helped out my tank Link to comment
Divided Sky
I would paint the back of your tank. Makes it look a bit cleaner. Remember to do regular water changes to export nutrients and import trace elements. With no skimmer water changes are a must. The clownfish will require nutrients which flake food cant deliver, so I would buy some frozen mysis shrimp of fortified frozen brine shrimp. This will also feed your hermits and such. Good luck.
