Snail question??

I got into work this morning and doing my normal routine of staring at my tank and noticed something new. I saw tentacles, much like the ones from a candy cane coral extract from my snails shell. When i went to take a closer look it went back into it's hole. Has anyone ever seen this? If so what is it?

That's strange, what kind of snail? Could it be an aiptasia that got in there somehow? I have one that lives inside the rim of a squamosa... looks sorta wierd when you can't see the whole body. I'm too afraid to squirt kalk into the clam, so the aiptasia has a safe haven (for now).

i've heard of a commensural worm that bores a hole right next to the shell opening. i've seen some instances of a second hole on empty shells but i've never seen the commensural so i don't know if it has tentacles or not. i don't think it's (the worm) parasitic tho. your mystery hitchhiker may not be it tho. ???
