Fish Freak
Is there a way to "clean" liverock without causing a tank to go through a cycle again? The tank in question has been established with the rock for over a year, but was pretty much ignored in terms of cleaning other than occasional water changes, as it has nothing in it other than a little shrimp. Lacking a cleanup crew as well, the rock is very dirty. Tank parameters are fine nonetheless, but since I am finally going to do something with tank in terms of getting corals and some inverts and working on getting the tank in tip top condition, I'd like to make the rock nice again. If I scrub it gently under some tank water do you think it would be okay? Any advice would be appreciated! Link to comment
randygsx
I'm not understanding what you mean by dirty. If it's detrius, use a turkey baster to blow/suck it off. For algae, your cleanup crew should get to it. If it's a small rock compared to the overall size of the tank and your system is established, I dont see how taking it out for a scrub could harm anything as long as you do it with tank water outside of the tank. ~randy Link to comment
Fish Freak
You know your right, it would probably be easiest just to blow it all off with a turkey baster or something of similar sort and then do a good water change, as the "dirt" comes off quite easily with a little pressure.
